We have recently found, that if you have a little bit of coxa remaining on the cut cricket leg, you have dramatically improved signal quality (it has to do with signal referencing). The coxa on a cricket is small, but with care, you can cut through it. You can also move your electrodes around to get different responses! Note: sometimes the spikes go away after a few minutes if you put an electrode in the coxa. This is possibly due to impeding oxygen flow.
